Introducing Taylor

I’m Taylor Olson and I am the new summer intern at Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin! I am currently a student at UW Madison double majoring in Neurobiology and Psychology with a certificate in Criminal Justice. I will be graduating in December of 2018 with the hopes of continuing my education in either graduate school or law school.

After taking a class at the UW that talked about criminals and the emotional traumas that victims, especially those of violent crime, often face I was inspired to help make a difference in Wisconsin. After hearing about Marsy’s Law it sounded like a good way to do so. The class talked about efforts to help with victim healing and aspects of Marsy’s Law would make that possible, as well as minimize the pain often associated with the legal process.

I am incredibly excited to not only work to even the playing field for victims, but learn more about the process behind how laws are passed. After hearing stories of sexual assault from friends and hearing the emotions they felt I can’t help but think that Marsy’s Law would have helped them feel more empowered to stand up for themselves.

I look forward to the rest of the summer with Marsy’s Law and the opportunities I have been given!

Sincerely,

Taylor
