Welcome New Members of the Wisconsin Legislature
This week, the Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin team would like to welcome several new members to the Wisconsin legislature. We are thrilled at the overwhelming bipartisan support that our legislation received on first consideration, and we’ll need the support of the new members of the Senate and Assembly when we face second consideration in 2019. With the winners of several special elections around the state now sworn in, Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin would like to welcome some new faces to the Wisconsin legislature:
Senator Patty Schachtner of Somerset now represents the 10th Senate District. Senator Schachtner is a lifelong Western Wisconsin resident, a former EMT, and supervisor for the Star Prairie township, and is currently the St. Croix County Medical Examiner and a Somerset School Board member. As an active community volunteer, Senator Schachtner has a history of advocating for victims through her role on the board of directors for “Turning Point Wisconsin,” a center for victims of sexual and domestic violence.
Representative Rick Gundrum of Slinger now serves the 58th Assembly District. A 5th generation resident of Washington County, Representative Gundrum heads an audio video production business he started in 2000. Through his previous role as the Chairman of the Rock County Board, Representative Gundrum worked on many important public safety issues and, like Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin, earned the support of his local law enforcement leadership.
Representative Greta Neubauer of Racine now represents the 66th Assembly District. A strong supporter and organizer of social movements, the fifth generation resident of Racine was recognized shortly after her election on the cover of Time Magazine among photos women who have run or are running for office, in an issue titled: “The Avengers: First They Marched, Now They’re Running.”
Please join us in welcoming all of these new members to the legislature and in encouraging them to join the broad and growing bipartisan coalition of support for Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin! Contact your legislators and urge them to join in the effort to strengthen victims’ rights by using the contact information below.
Sincerely,
Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin State Director Luke Martz
