Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin and Wisconsin Department of Justice Hosts Wisconsin Crime Victims’ Rights Conference

MADISON – Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Department of Justice will be holding their inaugural Crime Victims Right Virtual Conference Wednesday, April 13 and Thursday, April 14.  The free, two-day conference is a call to action in understanding, enforcing, and protecting the rights of victims of crime in Wisconsin.  The conference comes just one week after crime victims’ rights supporters celebrated the two-year anniversary of the overwhelming ratification vote of the crime victims’ constitutional amendment commonly known as Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin.

The conference focuses on assisting crime victims in asserting, accessing, and enforcing their rights in the criminal justice system. The virtual meeting is open to all stakeholders in the criminal justice system, including victim attorneys, prosecutors and defense attorneys, judges, community advocates, victim-witness coordinators, and survivors.  Amongst a host of topics, the conference will include presentations from experts that will touch on protecting a victim’s privacy, strengthening relationships with victim witness professionals and the unique issues presented by ingenious, LGBTQ+ and Latinx victims.  

The conference offers three tracks tailored for victim attorneys, victim advocates and those who work in the courts and criminal justice system.  The plenary sessions include:
